The Empowering Young Women and Girls Project was started in the beginning of 2016 by Uwezo Development Initiative (UDI), a Community Based Organization (CBO) located in Kilifi.
The objective is to provide vulnerable teen girls and young mothers with reproductive health information, life-skills and training on small-scale business to enable them to become economically self- sufficient. The project will also build their communication, decision- making skills to ensure they are not vulnerable to sexual abuse and are capable of making smart decisions and link them to learning institution for those who want to go back to school.
The project shall directly benefit 200 young women between 12 to 27 years and their more than 200 children. They come from 5 villages in Kilifi county at the east coast of Kenya.
